Wow, it's been a long time since I wrote on this thing. I forgot I even had a blog, Jessica had to remind me. I do love to read other blogs, and keep up with my big family that way.
I have been busy busy busy with quilts, and suddenly I had 2 new great grand kids all at once. On July 7th Lala and Carl became parents of twin daughters. That makes 46 great grand kids, I think.
On July 11th, grandpa had been gone for 7 years. I still think of things I'd like to tell him. But then I realize, he's not here. I wake up at night, and reach for him. I do! I'm half awake in a stupor, and I reach for him. Habits of 61 years are hard to break.
So far I've only taken 1 major trip this year. I went to Washington DC to spend the 4th of July holidays with Nancy, Chris, and the boys. Oh my gosh, how much they have grown in just 1 year! I went to visit Lala who was on bed rest in the hospital, and Nancy Sabina who is on bed rest at home. As hard as that is to do with 3 children, she is managing that quite well.
Jessica and the children have been with me all week this week. What a treat. The kids are going to bible school at a Reformed church. So they're learning lots of false doctrine. And they make a cross every day. So we spend time talking about the gospel on the way home.

Quilts
I'm still sitting here at the sewing machine, making quilts for the great grand kids. I've finished 22 so far, only 5 more to go. Fortunately I'm not making them for everybody, just for the kids 12 and under. However, the babies keep coming.
My problem is: I don't have a list of everybody's birthday. So I would sure appreciate it, if the mothers would send me a list of their kid's birthdays.

Keeping out of mischief
A friend set me up on this, but I've never used it. I'm too busy reading all the blogs from my grandchildren. Right now I'm busy making Christmas cards, and making quilts for the greats, which they'll get when I finish them. They were intended for Christmas presents, but the stress was too great. So I decided to just send them as I get them ready.
Jessica and Ginger are here with me every Thursday. I don't know about her, but I have a blast.
I have a video phone now. So I'm able to talke to my sister every day now, if I want to. Since I haven't seen her for almost 7 years, it's the best thing that could happen to me.
We made my infamous pumpkin mince meat bread his morning. Wish you were all here to share it with me. Recipe as follows:
Wet ingredients:
2 cups Oil
2 cups canned Pumpkin
2 cups Mince meat
8 eggs
1.5 cups water
Dry ingrdients:
7 cups flour
6 cups sugar
3 tsp salt
4 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp nutmeg
Mix wet ingredients in your mixer. Then, combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Dump dry ingredients into wet mixture, and mix (on low speed) until just wet and moist - don't overmix!
Grease and flour your pans. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. (about 60-70 for regular sized bread loafs)
This is for a double batch. It makes 7 medium loafs (7 3/8x3 5/8x2 1/4) and 1 small loaf (2.5x5x2). Or 10 small loafs and 2 medium loafs.
